Traveling With Your Guinea Pig
 You can bring your guinea pigs with you if you are going out of town for a few days. But it depends on your guinea pigs character and temperament, and sometimes won't be so easy. Also, before you travel out of State or Province with your guinea pig, check out a veterinary association of the State/Province/Country to which you are traveling for any restriction to pet rodents.
If you travel by Plane
This sort of transportation is not recommended for guinea pigs unless absolutely necessary. If you are going on vacation by plane it will be better for your guinea pigs to stay at home with a pig sitter.
Most pets on plane rides have to travel in the plane's cargo hold, where temperatures are not controlled. Guinea pigs have been known to die of heatstroke while planes are sitting on runways waiting to take off. If it is absolutely necessary for your guinea pig to travel by plane, try to find a company that allowed your guinea pig in the same cabin as you.
If you travel by Car
It is definitely possible. I've made a huge 2- day car ride with my Skinny babies from California to British Columbia last fall. We were driving by daytime, and staying in an animal friendly hotel at night. The guinea pigs were brave and everything was perfect. But I was very nervous before this trip. I was trying to find info about traveling with guinea pigs on the web, but didn't get lucky. So, that's why I've put this book together for you now – to gather the complete info you need to keep, raise and care for your guinea pig. As you see, guinea pigs can ride comfortably in a car on cool days when the traffic is minimal, because they're very sensitive to car exhaust. Protect your guinea pigs from the heat and direct sunlight. Use the air conditioner on warm days, but cover your guinea pig's carrier with a towel. Never leave your guinea pigs inside a parked car in the heat of the day, even with the windows open. The warm temperature inside the car can kill your cavy in minutes.

Before you travel
Try to teach your guinea pig how to be calm and comfortable inside its travel carrier. You may also start taking your guinea pig on short rides in the car before you can go for a long trip. You might be surprised, but your guinea pig will get used to these car trips as a routine and will happily settle down and relax :-)
